Our program is designed for participants to learn basic life skills such as but not limited to:
At the grocery store:
they will learn what is healthy, not healthy, proteins, how to read a label where they can see calories, fat, sugar, sodium etc. They will learn how to use coupons (which are good and bad). They will learn what is needed to make a special recipe. They will learn how to make sure they got the correct change after paying for groceries by matching the receipt with the change given.
At the library:
they will learn how to take out a book, how to find a book based on categories, library etiquette such as being silent, how to find the references on an article, how to use the internet (for free) at the library etc.
At the pharmacy:
they will learn how to go to CVS or Walgreens and speak (or ask questions if they have any)to a pharmacist on prescription refill etc. Visit the zone where vitamins are located and know where and what to buy and the health benefits of vitamins.
At the bank:
They will learn how to search for a bank based on location and which bank offers the best service for their needs. They will learn how to open a bank account, how to balance their account, make a payment, make a budget etc.
